Tour Overview
This is own Private Tour of one night & two days for the 15-20 pax of Family & Friends Trip, Corporate Outing, Solo Womaniya Expedition, Wildlife & Cultural Excursion & Exclusive Leisure Safari, who want to enjoy the thrill of jungle without compromising the basic comfort through warm and luxury hospitality.
Lodging is Optional. Fooding are 02 Breakfasts, 01 Evening Snacks, 02 Lunches and 01 Dinner (details will be confirmed as per conversation on booking time). Activities will be observing wildlife, birds, history, culture and scenic beauty of nature through Watch Towers and Water Safari. Jhumur Dance with Bonfire will be Optional. Pick up at Sonakhali and Drop at Sonakhali.
The Sundarban, constituting the World's Largest Continuous Mangrove Forest, is a vast Deltaic Region formed by the confluence of the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna rivers in the Bay of Bengal.
Spanning approximately 10,000 square kilometers across India (West Bengal) and Bangladesh.
Sunderban is the UNESCO Word Heritage Site, designating for its outstanding universal value in both India (1987) and Bangladesh (1997).
The region is characterized by a complex network of tidal waterways, mudflats, and small islands of salt-tolerant mangrove forests. Its strategic location serves as the home of colourful birds like Kingfishers, Sea Eagles, Great Egrat, various wading birds, reptiles like Estuarine Crocodile, Olive Ridley Turtle, Water Monitor Lizard, King Cobra, aquatic creatures like Gangetic Dolphin, Mudskippers, River Terrapins and mammals like Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, Fishing Cat, Monkeys and famous Royal Bengal tigers.
Sundarban is also a Ramsar Site, recognizing as a Wetland of International Importance, highlighting its critical role in global biodiversity.
It's also the Biosphere Reserve, the ecosystem is unique due to its halophytic (salt-tolerant) mangrove Flora and Fauna like Sundari, Hetal etc. which are the only mangrove habitat in the world that supports a significant tiger population.
Sundarban has the rich Historic background including Raja Pratapaditya and invasion of Mughals, Olondaj-Portuguese pirates and smugglers, exploitation and oppression of East India Company and Sir Daniel Hamilton, a Scottish businessman's visionary Cooperative Estate in Gosaba in the early 1900s, aiming for rural upliftment by creating self-reliant villages, introducing cooperative banking, local currency (Rupee notes), and model farms, fostering a utopian society inspired by self-help which had been observed and appreciated by great Rabindranath Tagore.
Sundarban is also proudly presented in ancient Bengali Folktales and Folklores. Legend goddess Banbibi, Saat Bibi the seven goddess, Dakshin Ray, Kalu Gazi, Maa Monosa and Chand Saudagar are popular myths of Sunderban, the Land of Eighteen Tides (আঠারো ভাটির দেশ).
Here primal professions are Boating, Fishing, Collecting Crabs-Prawns, Wild-Honey and survival Farming, Hand-Crafting.
Where as the passions are Bhatiali Tune, Jhumur Dance and soulful Baul culture blending with Hindu, Sufi, and Buddhist philosophies.
Here morning starts with Nagar Kirtana, the musical village procession promoting spiritual joy & peace and Madhukari, accepting alms by Vaishnava saints where as night starts with Banbibi Pala, musical dramatic performances of folktales & folklores blending Hindu and Islamic traditions.
Day-wise Itinerary
Day 01
1. Guest's spot to Sonakhali Ferry Ghat by transport which is optional.
2. Boarding at Sonakhali.
3. Welcoming with traditional or refreshing drinks and start cruising towards Gasaba.
4. Traditional Bengali breakfast with sweets and tea/ coffee serving on cruising duration.
5. Arrival at Gosaba to observe Hamilton Kuthi and Beacon Bungalow with Tagore’s great appreciation.
6. Leaving Gosaba and cruising towards Pakhir Jungle. Lunch with traditional Bengali non veg or veg thali with seasonal fruit on cruising duration.
7. Observing beautyful sunset on water body. If possible, arrival on Sajnekhali Wildlife & Birds Sanctuary and National Park. Watching migratory birds, giant reptails and mammals like Spotted Deers and hopefully Royal Bengal Tiger in mangroves forest through Watch Tower.
8. Check in at Pakhiralaya or Dayapur for night stay at Lodging option. Evening Snacks like pakodas, Amodi fish fry with tea/coffee and Dinner with traditional Bengali non veg or veg thali will be served here.
9. If there will be no lodging option, Evening Snacks, Dinner and night stay will be happening on motor vehicle.
10. Optional Jhumur Dance with Bonfire will be presented as per availability at evening.
Day 02
1. After Bed Tea at early morning, making check out if there is the lodging option and the day will begin with Water Safari through the mangrove deltas.
2. Starting cruise to observe beauty of morning. Breakfast as traditional Bengali style with sweet and tea/ coffee will be served on journey time.
3. If not possible in First day, Sajnekhali Wildlife and Birds Sanctuary and National Park will the first arrival venue of the day.
Government-certified guide will lead you through the reserve, offering insights into the unique ecosystem, the confluence of Matla & Gumdi rivers. Watching migratory birds, giant reptails and mammals like Spotted Deers and hopefully Royal Bengal Tiger in mangroves forest through Watch Tower.
4. Cruise to Sudhanyakhali Watch Tower and Mangrove Garden with freshwater pond that attracts animals like spotted deers, crocodiles, water monitor lizards, monkeys. Royal Bengal Tiger (will be seen as their wish) to drink, offering visitors panoramic forest views and opportunities for nature photography with Crocodile basking in the sun and Birdwatching during Water Safari.
5. Continue your thrilling boat safari, navigating various rivers, islands and creeks, Including Pirkhali, Banbibi Varani, Sundarkhali, Khonakhali, Choragaji, Deulvarani, Sarakkhali, Gazikhali, Nobanki. Keep an eye out for spotted deer, crocodiles, wild boars, water monitor lizards, diverse bird species, and with luck, the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. (Lunch with Traditional Bengali non veg or veg thali will be served on the cruising time)
6. Explore the Do-Banki Tiger Reserve Area and experience the 896-meter canopy walk which is 20 feet above the ground, providing a unique perspective point to observe wildlife from a secure netted enclosure. This is famous for Spotted deers. Massive numbers of those were died by Cyclone Aila struck the Sundarbans in May 2009.
7. Netidhopani Camp with Watch Tower is optional. It's offering views of a ruined 400-year-old Shiva temple (in another opinion, it was the shelter establishment of Raja Pratapaditya but in folklore, it was the building of Chand Saudagar) and a sweet water pond, all set within the mangrove forest, and famously linked to the Bengali legend of Behula and Lakhindar, where a mythical woman washed clothes and revived her husband.
8. Visit sunset on Panchamukhni, the massive confluence of five rivers, offering a panoramic view of the waterways. Aquatic creatures like Gangetic Dolphin, Mudskippers may be seen as playing on water body as their wish.
9. Conclude your Sundarban adventure and commence the return journey to Sonakhali.
10. The warm and sincere farewell with latent commitment that See You Again.
